OROPESA DEL MAR, SPAIN: Alexander Peya and Oliver Marach were aware that they had some good fortune along the way as they produced a stirling performance to put Austria back in with a chance against Spain in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas quarterfinal.
Austria had failed to win a single set through the first two rubbers on Friday and the pattern continued as they fell 6-3 in the opener to Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez. However, a rain delay at the start of the second set shifted the momentum in their favour as they went on to take the next three sets and seal a 36 64 64 76(12) triumph.
The Spanish are still favourites for the tie leading 2-1 going into Sunday's play and captain Alex Corretja is confident that David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro will prove to be too strong for Jurgen Melzer and Andreas Haider-Maurer who they play respectively in their reverse singles.
