Next tie 13-15 Sept 2013
Defeated in their first Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group tie for nine years in the first round, Brazil will bid to earn another crack at the top tier in 2014 when they take on Germany in the World Group play-off. Germany lead the head-to-head 3-2 but it is the South Americans who have one the last two ties.
Last tie 1-3 Feb 2013
Brazil lost to USA in Jacksonville in the World Group first round, but certainly gave the hosts a run for their money. Sam Querrey and John Isner gave USA a 2-0 lead in their World Group first round tie, only for Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares to inflict Bob and Mike Bryan's first doubles defeat in Davis Cup since 2008 before Thomaz Bellucci levelled the scores with a five-set win against John Isner. Sam Querrey dented Brazil's hopes of a great comeback, defeating Thiago Alves in four sets to see USA home.
