Next tie 12-14 September 2014
Brazil will welcome Spain in September, as each team bids to secure a place in the World Group for 2015. Spain lead the head-to-head record 5-2, but Brazil were the victors in the last tie between the teams, a World Group first round match-up in 1999.
Last tie 4-6 April 2014
Brazil defeated Ecuador 3-1 to earn a place in the World Group play-offs later this year. Rogerio Dutra Silva won both of his singles rubbers in four sets, while Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares won the doubles for the loss of just five games, in what was in the end a comfortable victory for the Brazilians.
Brazil is a two-time semifinalist, having reached the last four in 1992 and 2000. Prior to the creation of the World Group in 1981, it reached the Inter Zonal Final - the round before the Challenge Round - in both 1966 and 1971.
